Another piece of advice handed out for free

Let’s talk about beliefs. You may believe in a higher power or spiritual guide. Despite this, there is still work that you must do on your own. God will always make a way, but you at least have to be moving… walking… maybe even crawling. Just because you don’t see the fruits of your labor does not mean those seeds aren’t budding. I say this as a reminder to be patient, stay focused, and keep it moving. As the saying goes, “Rome was not built in a day”.

Story time!

I have always been in great shape, mostly due to me being involved in sports in high school. So, when I joined the military at the tender age of 21, the last thing I thought I would struggle with was the physical portion. Yes… you read that right! Specifically, I could not pass the sit-ups to save my life. At the time during basic training the requirement was 53 sit-ups. I was stuck at a confident 42 and could possibly squeeze out 45. However, as I stated, passing was 53 so that just was not going to cut it. Fast forward 10 weeks later, quickly approaching is my last opportunity to pass the fitness test and graduate basic training. By week 10 each self-test I was taking would result in 51 sit-ups, 52 sit-ups, or 53 sit-ups by the skin of my teeth! Now, at this point I had had a conversation with my God and I told him, “I’ll put in the work, but I need your help”, and the grind was on. For the next 5 days leading up to the final physical test, I was knocking out sit-ups all day. Sit-ups for breakfast, sit-ups for lunch, and at least 100 sit-ups before bed. I didn’t pass…… Just kidding! I passed with 57 sit-ups, a few extra just in case some did not count along the way lol. God will carry you through as long as you are putting in the work!
